For many years Mercy Ships has provided prosthetic limbs to people in war-torn areas of the world.
The New Steps program provides free prosthetic limbs, counseling and job training.
Many of those in need are victims of land mines, civil war and polio.
Cost of a prosthetic limb is $135

Outstanding ophthalmologists volunteer their time and services. 50% of blind people can have their sight restored with a one hour cataract operation.
Many other types of eye treatment are provided.
Cost of a cataract operation is $200.

Dental Care

In the Western world there is one dentist for every 1,400 people. In developing nations there is one dentist for every 100,000 to 150,000 people. In Sierra Leone there is one dentist for every 500,000 people.
Coast of a dental procedure is $65.

 

Volunteer orthopedic surgeons provide operations that straighten crippled limbs and correct club feet.
An orthopedic procedure costs $330.

Clean Water Care

Contaminated drinking water remains the single largest cause of preventable disease, and results in thousands of unnecessary deaths every day. When a Mercy Ship arrives in port, teams go to villages, townships and remote bush areas to dig wells that provide abundant, clean water. Help prevent disease and give the gift of good health by giving towards the gift of fresh, clean water.
Materials for an entire water project cost $3500.

Tumor RemovalPlease Donate

One of the most difficult things to see in developing countries is people who suffer from untreated tumors, often benign, but eventually leading to a slow and painful death.
A tumor removal costs $330.
