Helping is easier than you think. Just get your friends together for a good time and support a great cause in the process.
You can organise a fundraising event of any size - a cake sale, a backyard BBQ, a fashion show, a pyjama party, whatever you can think of - at any time throughout the month of May.
We will provide you with a Host Kit containing everything you need to host an event, such as a host guide, invitations, posters, a DVD, and other materials to help make your event a great success.
All funds raised will benefit the Mercy Ships Women's Health Program, providing free surgery to women in Africa suffering from obstetric fistula and other gynaecological conditions.
Registration for Mercy May 2016 has now closed. Please check back next year to register your interest in hosting an event.
Ian and Jan Smith from Kaniva, Victoria, participated in Mercy May in 2015 and have signed up to host an event again this year. So what inspired them to get involved?
"Having heard about the plight of women who become outcasts in their own culture and the work of Mercy Ships to restore dignity and hope we just wanted to get involved. Putting on a morning tea seemed a fun idea and with the help of Mercy Ships, who provided promotional material and ideas, the occasion was made even easier and more fun to organise. People who had never heard about Mercy Ships before were very appreciative of the event; and the scones, jam and cream. The main outcome however was that those who attended felt they had been given an opportunity to make a difference."
